Problem
Gmail Not Receiving Emails
Incoming mail to your Google Workspace address is not showing up in Gmail. Here is how to narrow down why.
Get HelpThe Problem
You are sending yourself or asking someone to send a test email to your Google Workspace address, and nothing arrives — not even in spam.
Possible Causes
- MX records not pointing to Google, or still pointing to a previous provider
- Domain not fully verified in the Admin Console
- A mail filter or forwarding rule silently redirecting the message
- Sender’s mail being rejected before it reaches Google’s servers
What We Can Check
We check your MX records, confirm domain verification status, review Gmail filters and forwarding settings, and look at the message headers of a bounce (if the sender received one) to see where delivery actually failed.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Confirm the domain shows as verified in the Admin Console.
- Look up your domain’s current MX records and compare them against Google’s required values.
- Check Gmail Settings → Filters and Blocked Addresses for anything that could be silently deleting or forwarding mail.
- Ask the sender whether they received a bounce-back message, and read the error text if they did.
When You Need Professional Help
If MX records look correct and mail is still not arriving after 24–48 hours, or you cannot interpret a bounce message, it is time to get a second set of eyes on it.
