Problem
Google Workspace SPF Problem
Your SPF record is missing, incorrect, or causing legitimate mail to fail authentication.
Get HelpThe Problem
Outgoing mail is failing SPF checks at the recipient’s server, or you are not sure whether your domain even has a valid SPF record.
Possible Causes
- No SPF record published for the domain at all
- SPF record exists but does not include Google’s sending servers
- More than one SPF record published (only one is allowed per domain)
- Record exceeds the DNS lookup limit due to too many included services
What We Can Check
We check whether a valid SPF record exists, confirm it includes Google’s servers, and check for the common technical mistake of publishing two separate SPF records instead of merging them into one.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Look up your domain’s TXT records and confirm there is exactly one record starting with "v=spf1".
- Confirm it includes Google’s sending servers.
- If you use other services to send mail (like a CRM or invoicing tool), confirm they are also included in the same record.
- Count the DNS lookups the record triggers — more than 10 will cause SPF to fail entirely.
When You Need Professional Help
Merging multiple SPF records into one, or trimming a record that exceeds the lookup limit, is easy to get wrong and break in the opposite direction — get help if you are not confident editing it.
